+reps for help!
You will want the NPI cam sets. 96-98.
If you go with a cam that needs springs i suggest these . Unless you plan on going with some crazy cams in that bad boy...or girl haha

the $$ keeps adding up haha. So stage ii cams, intake mani, new valve springs and retainers? but the stock cam gears will work right?

If i go with the Comp Cams will i need new valve springs? Or is it one of those things where its better safe then sorry..

Anything over stage 1 needs springs . Stock cam gears will work. but cams should be degreed.

You would then need adjustable cam gears or adjustable crank sprockets.
Trick Flow Specialties TFS-51800505 - Trick Flow® Replacement Adjustable Crank Sprockets - Overview - SummitRacing.com

They are so you can retard and advance the cam .

If you do hitech stage 2 cams then you only need the cams and these gears. Not even springs or retainers ect.

Haha no. You can go with any cams. But i suggest the Hi Tech they make the most power . Comp is a company that makes many grinds of cams. When i say Hi Tech thats what i mean lol. You don't need springs with them . springs are recommended for the cam as they can make power over 6500.. i don't suggest running that high without aftermarket springs. But they are not required anyhow.

Well i decided to go with stock cams because cams are out of my price range right now. But with the stock cams, will i need those adjustable cam gears? or should the stock just bolt right up?
Being that mines a 97, it should have the plastic crossover, so i can reuse it, correct? (My care is not with me, which would make alot of this easier!!)
And i've read alot about the 180 thermostat, should i get one? I can only find them for 5.0 and v6's.

Ok thats understandable.
Don't use the plastic cross over its crap and cracks .
Honestly im on a 192 thermostat and it runs its best with it. The 180 is a prime choice but after much driving aand testing i got the best results out of the 192 stock thermostat . but a 180 is fine if where you are if overly hot.
