5.4 swap, need help please

Ok, this is a question for the guys who know info about the 5.4 swap. I really want to do the swap on my 96 gt. The two quetions i have are, 1. I know the intake clearance is a problem, but why cant we use the aftermarket intakes that edlebrock makes for the 2000 cobra r with the 5.4 in it. 2. What is the best solution for the exhaust as far as headers and x pipe go. Any info you guys can give me on the swap would be great and i would greatly appreciate it.

Ok, because i dont know i have another question, 1. Is the mark 8 motor a 4 valve and if so, which would be better, a mark 8 swap or a 5.4 swap. I want the most power out a swap and not sure which direction to head in. Any info would sure help. Thanks guys.

im doing the 5.4 swap right now and i would personally go with a mark viii swap.

the mark viii is a 4 valve motor

the 2000 cobra r is a 4 valve mustang, the intake problem is because the v of the engine is longer/wider so you need a corresponding intake that fits. HPS sells an intake for the 2 valve motors that fits under the hood and is quite nice.

there is a company that makes long tube headers for the 5.4. i believe they are called FPS or TPS or something. go onto mustangboards.com and they will answer that for you. the answer to the exhaust problem (easiest at least) is to just have an exhaust shop lengthen your mid pipe to fit and done.

I have been looking into it, MMR makes a pricey intake mani, but I'll probably need it for stock hood use. They also make a 5.4L cobra replica mani (iirc) for a little cheaper, but I think the fully custom is a better flow rate

Someone else may know more about headers as I'll be using the navi headers and cut them to fit when I start...

Will need to be tuned.
May not clear the Brake booster set up.
Heads are very wide due to huge V block.
Intake will be badassed and stick out of the hood. I have two blocks. a 5.4 and 4.6 Teksid. I have a few navigators and Mark VIII in New Orleans. too many of them really at the u pull it haha.

Most cobra stuff i found were like 4-5 intakes for sale on Corral and svt performance. And yeah New Orleans down here is a gold mine for the best of the engine swaps. PI heads go for 50 bucks. intakes 25 bucks cams 25 bucks...... soooo many deals...

I did thw mark swap and it was pretty easy. Look for a 97-98 its pretty much direct swap. Or you can get the engine from all mark 8 93-98

You can put the stock 2v 4.6 intake or an aftermarket intake on a 5.4 2v. You need adaptor plates. It might hold you back though.
