Ford TOB and shifter bushing

My TOB has been squealing for a good while now. Ill have a chance to replace it in a few weeks. Ive been told that the Ford Replacement TOB is actually the same thing as the FRPP HD TOB. Also whenever Im driving and hit the throttle a new rattle is being heard from my shifter area. I know that short shifters normally have a rattling noise, which mine does. But this is a new one. Im almost positive it is the bushing. Just want to make sure I order the right one before I tear everything apart.

Also I have access to a pit and have a transmission jack. How much time should I expect this to take? Im gonna replace the TOB and bushing at the same time. Im guessing about 3-4 hours max? As long as everything goes smoothly, which never happens : P

have you ever done a clutch on it before, i would say 3 - 4 hours for someone that's done it before, first time out.. i'm thinking 6hours.

while you're in there, get the clutch fork and pivot stud.. you're TOB could be making noise because of a worn fork. Also, I would consider making a clutch freeplay kit. If you can't find the thread, let me know.

The Clutch was replaced by the previous owner less than 20k miles ago, but the TOB wasnt replaced. Im on a tight budget anyway. Think I can pull this off without removing my x-pipe? not a big deal if I need to remove it but just trying to cut down on time. The TOB isnt really that bad anyway, it just squeals a little bit every now and then until I put the weight of my foot on the pedal, I dont need to push on it at all and it stops. I just wanna get it taken care of before it gets worse and leaves me sitting at a light or something.

you absolutely have to remove the x-pipe.. why don't you just install the clutch freeplay kit then and skip the dropping of the tranny until you can do it right with new clutch, tob, clutch fork and pivot stud?

Also, who the hell replaces a clutch without replacing the TOB, which is usually part of the clutch kit???

You can get all the parts you need at Ace Hardware for under $10 bucks, not have to drop the tranny and can be done in 30 minutes.

Beats me, I bought the car from some 45 year old dude who had other people do the work for him. I might just wait until I get my tax return and get a lightweight flywheel or at least get mine resurfaced and a cobra clutch. The TOB has been making a little noise for almost a year now, so I think it can wait another month. The only time I can even hear it making noise is if the car is at idle and Im outside of the car listening for it.
