Steering Noise

Hey guys I need help diagnosing a noise my car makes when I go to steer. As I'm steering there's a groaning noise coming from underneith where the rack and pinion is at. I know it's not the power steering pump or the belt slipping because if I were to turn and hold the wheel then it would continue to groan but it only does it while I'm turning the wheel. The noise is very faint on the outside while I'm steering but you can really hear it inside the car. Inner or outer tie rods? Rack and pinion trouble? Please help me out!

I have the same problem... only mine is definitely not faint... it's loud! I took it to a mechanic and they swapped out the steering rack bushings (3 times to be exact). It still makes that creaking noise. So much for that mechanic.

Its really not hard to find out where its comming from.

I have told people on here millions of times the Ball joints make noise, and the tie rods.

All you gotta do is get under it and have someone turn the wheels back and fourth. The steering rack shouldnt have been replaced that many times.

Does yours make the noise only when it's hot out? Mine does it only when it's hot. When it's in the 60's or below it doesn't make a peep...

As usual I am going to agree, I have a unrealted vehicle that does the same. After inspecting everything I found the ball joints were shot. I noticed the noise last summer,it stopped in the winter and started again at the first sign of warm weather...
