pulley removal

Anyone ever have problems removing a pulley? I'm replacing my a/c pulley but it's like the bearing is smaller than the shaft it rolls on. Do you absolutely have to have a pulley remover for this?

what i did on my buddies 5.0 was remove the ac pully, the power steering, and one other i cant remember which and just put a smaller belt on that fit so im sure if u just wanna remove the ac pully u can but you will obviously need a new belt that fits

I just need to take the a/c pulley off. I already have two belts. One shortened one to ignore the A/C until I got it fixed, and the other to include the a/c. The pulley just won't come off the compressor nose. The directions that came with the new pulley said it should slide off after taking the snap ring off but it doesn't.
