thanks capser, yeah, i agree, i hated working on fords that whole time, especially warranty repairs, but the money made up for it on cash tickets. easy fixes most of the time, repetition, now, working for an independant, i get to work on variety of junk now.... haha. so far, its lookig like i will need to use my stock timing cover, stock oil pan, along with the harness, fuel rail, and get me a newer intake with the aluminum chamber. also read i should get me a newer year radiator and fan assembly (due to the poor cooling characteristics of the 96 MY stang. all with due time, i am in no major hurry for this build, but i see this engine everyday at work just staring at me. i'll send the block off monday or tuesday for work. what would you suggest for bore size, or is that a major factor between bore sizes for power besides a few extra cubes?
here is a pic of the tensioner guide with the other guides.

you can see the tensioner guide wear, the other guide has a crack in it, but hard to see with the flash, and the chunk missing was in the oil pick up tube.

here is the valve to piston kiss...

all in all, looks good though. i'll keep in touch here and poke around a few other threads, see if i can be of help to anyone here when time allows me to.

p.s. (let me know if these pix are too large for this forum)

I had a guy come into my dealership with a 5.1 stroker motor built supposedly from SHM... i dont know if they are anygood but anyways...
Above quote was earleier from Casper 98.

I highly doubt Sean Hyland built that motor Casper98 was talking about,I didnt know about Sean Hyland either, this guy is the king of the hill with mod motors. I has huge shop in Woodstock Ontario, its sweet.
The man has many books out there on how to built max hp mod motors.
I am not trying to bash on casper98 by no means either.
here is a site for SHM http://www.seanhylandmotorsports.com/

stroking is the way to get more cubic inchs. they have a big bore setup but you have to go to an aluminum blaock and not really worth it in my opinion, anyways stroke it and just bore it out .020 to clean it up. as for the guy trying to sell his motor, read our rules please and that will tell you all the guidelins about selling. we like for our member to become integrated into the community before selling items. makes everyone feel better about buying form you, and then we also know you here not to only sell something,

and heres a pic of one of my pistons with a valve kiss.

go with the complete motor swap, have friend with just heads and intake with same bolt ons but he has udp and i put down 1 more hp and 3 fttq, plus newer is better right, mine is an 04 but you must also think about the just head and intake swap is going to raise compression too, just go with newer motor
