Oil Question

Im getting ready to put Heads and cam on my car to finish up the PI swap and sence I got front cover off I'm replacing my timing chains, tensioners, and I want to put in a high volume oil pump. Is it possible to put an oil pump and pickup tube in with the engine in the car. Its a 97 GT btw. Thanks and what oil pumps do you reccomend. Willl a High Flow FRPP pump do the job? Thanks

It is not suggested to run a high volume pump on a iron block. I have read over the year that a few guys have had issues with the pump sucking the pan dry. The Cobra pump was designed for the aluminum block, with expanding rate of aluminum they needed a pump to push more oil through the narrowed oil passages.
IMO the factory pump is more than enough without a larger pan or more oil capacity.

I'm not sure, the hard part would be to remove and install the pick up bolts.
