4.6 cold start engine knock

hey everyone new to the forum here....just need some help here got a 98 gt and when the car sits for 5 or 6 hours even overnight when i start it it makes a clacking sound or light knock for only about 30 seconds or so...sometimes it wont even do it...so far i did a compression check and im getting 160lbs buildup is fast which is a good sound i did a fuel, oil, and coolant pressure check and they and they all are in specs now i heard of piston slap issues and was wondering if that could be it??? the car has been well taken care of maintance wise as im the second owner and got reciepts from past oil changes new air filters fuel filters pcv valves alot of people skip those i bought it with 82k and it now has 130k the noise has not gotten worse over mileage so im just wondering if its normal for this engine? i also use midgrade gas and fill it with premium 2 times a month or use a good injector cleaner and i been using castrol 5-30 non synthetic i even tried synthetic and 10-30 with no change in the noise i appreciate anyones suggestions or answers

thanks

My 97 has a chatter that is worse when its cold. I know some people get a chatter and a knock mixed up. I believe mine could be a loose rocker or maybe just worn valves. Anyways if it is a knock it couldnt be too good.
Good luck.

my car makes a noise like that too. My clutch is on its way out and my throw out bearing screams like a bitch. When it's cold it's real bad. I't been going on since i got the car, and now the clutch is actually starting to not catch 1st. She only makes noise when she cold starts though, and maybe a lil hum thats unnoticeable while she's warm.

LOL, same here. Going through a drive through is annoying as hell. Its bad when it drowns out your exhaust. I really need to ordr a new clutch. 150k is getting close to its limit im sure.

only noise since lowering it the drive shaft hits the ebrake tab on the bottom of the floor if I get on it real hard with a passenger.
I used the eibach prokit. (1.5inces) Costs about $220 and I put it in myself in about 2 hours including ball joints. Any alignment shop that will not touch it afterwards is just incompetent . You might want to get CC plates but probly wont need them unless you get the eibach sport line kit. (2.0 inches)
