Center console gets really hot

Well I thought I already posted this but I guess it got erased or I don't remember where I put it. Anyway, my center console gets really really hot to the touch when driving. I cannot figure out where it is coming from. It is hot between the shifter and the compartment right behind the ash tray. I have already flushed my transmission with new fluid but it still gets really hot. My motor doesn't overheat but you can feel the heat coming out from under the car. Is this a sign of something bad in my transmission? As a matter of fact the motor itself seems really hot when it is running if you open the hood but it never overheats or even gets hot according to the gauge. Please help with any thoughts.

Chris

do u have cats or an o/r pipe. Ur converters may be clogged and in need of a replacement. Next time it happens, pull over, leave the car running, put it in park or pull the ebrake, dunno if ur 5spd or not, and look under that car. If u have cats and there glowing red thats ur problem

I will check that for sure, that would be nice if that was the problem because the is the last piece of my exhaust that I am changing, I am adding an aftermarket H pipe so maybe they are just clogged. I will try that, but still open to any other ideas that people might have.

Check that the rubber boot under the shifter is actuall sealed off and bolted to the floor pan, if not you will get a shit load of heat in the console.

Mine doesn't get incredibly scalding hot, but it does get damn warm after driving the car, especially hard.

If I touch the floor or plastic, I can feel warmth. If I open up the ash tray thing and touch the metal it is actually hot. Not like "Damn, I should stop touching this hot," but still hot.

This just may be heat from your exhaust / transmission / etc. I don't have cats for what its worth.

Well I am replacing the cats this weekend with new x pipe and I also looked at the shifter and the boot is ripped where the bolts are. Can I buy that part at a dealership. It looks like there is some kind of tacky substance on it like the owner before me tried to glue it back down.

Yeah it should be a part that you could get from your ford dealership! and it should cut down the heat in your car!
