I don't think there is Chris. Just release it and you should be set I would believe. I'm gearing up to do all four corners with the SSBC pads/discs I have had lying around for 4 months now. If I beat you to it, I'll letcha know what problems if any I run into. If you do yours soon (ie, before I do, lol) and there turns out to be some complicating trick to our rears, do let me know man, I'd appreciate it. But just looking at them, they don't look any different in setup than any other rear-disc setup I've worked on in the past.

cool man. good luck. i too hope it only takes me an hour. i've done brake work on my dad's 95 lincoln mark viii which is basically 75% of what our cobras are made of, so i hope our cars are as easy to do as his was.

oh and I finally got some springs on my car... i'll have to post up some pics soon. the stance is so much improved, it no longer looks like its "floating" 8 inches off the ground. you know what i'm talking about. looks so much better it's incredible.

alright, well again, g'luck with the brakes.

I got the ever-so-popular Eibach Pro-Kit. Supposed drop was to be 1.5" all around but it turned out to be more like 1.75". Honestly, it looks like you could drop it another inch and a half, just because there's so much of a gap between tire and fenderwell, but I've already done my fair share of scraping over some what were typically small speed bumps... but all in all I LOVE it.

Between the kit and paying my buddy to install it for me (in beers, and a fifth of Grey Goose, lol) I spend 300. Not too bad in my mind. I think I'm in money saving mode now. Next mod will be an x-pipe and possibly a better clutch, though gears are tempting.

definitely NOT getting 4.30s on the only car I have, that being my Cobra and thus my Daily Driver. not gonna happen. if it were a secondary vehicle, I would have had gears installed the day after I purchased the car. Not to mention that my car being a stickshift, I'd have ZERO first gear left with 4.30s on it. NOT what I need in the stop and go traffic of downtown Seattle. :wink Besides, my clutch is not what I'd like it to be at all, and there ain't nothin wrong with making my pipes sing a little more either.

Man I think that the 4V need the 4.30s! Hell I think my car could use 4.30s and still be alright with gas and DD! I just got my 4.10s and love them! And then once you have the gears in there you can get a new clutch and then get an O/R H with Flow 40s!

Just release the brake cable, if just putting pads on know that there is a "special tool" needed to compress the caliper.. These calipers have to screw in and press in at the same time. Just ask someone at the parts store for the cube shaped caliper tool for rear calipers. They cost around $10.

I've done rotors & brakes in all 4 corners of my 98' Cobra.

The cube tool that was mentioned above worked great for compressing the calipers! Now that brake cable did turn out to be a pain in the ass.

The best way I found out for putting it back into the "U" shape holding braket was using a pair of vice grips and pulling it over. At the same time, you need to slide the little clip that holds in it place with your other hand. Its going to take some muscle and patience. Good luck!

hahaha mine have 79,000 on 'em lol, including some powershifting miles as well

yeah I am pretty sure my rear left rotor has suffered disc runout, as it's startin to shake a little when i apply brake pressure - definitely a must do this weekend!

i've seen those cube tools before but have no f'n clue as to how to use them - I've seen many a rear brake caliper compress with the turn of an allen wrench. was kinda hoping that'd be the case with ours (chris) but doesn't sound like it eh?

hey chris - have you looked into getting stainless brake lines? i have, but have come up empty handed in finding a supplier for our cars. newer mustangs and the old 5.0s are ever so popular to find, but not for our cars, apparently. just wonderin if you've ever run across a set of 4 for sale somewhere online.

yeah they have them go to summit they sell em for our cars. but i dont want to get into that because it dose get time consuming haven to bleed the lines n rebleeding them and if you messed up there could be a air bubble n mess up the brakes...but ill do it sooner or later. i just HATE bleeding brakes! lol

allen wrench huh? ive always used a C clamp the compress the calipers (front)
