Yes, it matters where they go. You will need to lap the valves and check the seat margins, this will insure proper seating...... BTW I may know someone who is going to start head porting full time :wink

Fyi, lift exceeding .550" lift is wasted energy. These heads even ported tend to stall around .500" lift.

I have no clue what lapping the valves and checking the seat margins are! Who is going to go porting heads all day long?

I am keeping it local for the time being.. However I'm not officially advertising, yet !!!! I just got hooked up with a CNC shop Anyhow!? Matt, you can do a search on google for lapping the valves, it is easy. Checking the margin is a little more difficult, when you get that far PM me I'll give you instruction.

I read what lapping was and it seams to be really easy! Just a few bucks from the parts store! Seems realy easy! How would I check the margin? Will I need anything special?

You will need Prussian blueing, dial calipers and a good set of eyes. I don't have the margin numbers memorized, but I can find them for you. After you lapp the valve you clean the seat and valve, install the prussian blueing reinstall the valve making one complete. Removing the valve you'll be able to see the margine and measure from there.

Prussian blue is a type of goop that you put on thing to tell if they have clearance or not. alot of times used in evap situations. valve to piston clearance, valve lapping. I use it quite frequently. Its very easy to work with and you can buy it anywhere. Just go to youre local parts store and ask for it.
