Guess What I picked Up today!

Well I lucked out today! My dad and I get on craigslist.org periodically to look for a project/track mustang. Anyway while browsing through the lists I see one that caught my eye! It was a post for referbished 99 PI heads with vavles, springs, reatinors. Also in the add was PI cams already on the heads, BBK tuned Shorties, PI intake, and windsor cam covers. All of this stuff is new except for the cam covers. All I will need to put these on are assemble them and then gaskets and head bolts! I also wont be putting these on for a while, because I had no money my dad let me borrow some. I had to make a few deals with him! 1st The heads can not be installed until I have paid them off and have put the same amount into my savings account. 2. every dollar i spend putting these on the heads( bolts, gaskets, etc) has to be matched and put in the bank. 3rd my 1969 suzuki TS250 has to be up for sale and running properly!

Now for the questions! 1st is it normal to have small bubbly metal in the intake ports? (Pic 9) 2nd how much should I sell the PI intake for? 3rd how much for the shorties, I think I will sell them and save up for Long Tube headers and Prochamber!

Comments Welcome!

And lets see who can come the closest to how much I paid for these!

I take it you already have a PI Intake?

Me personally I would sell the shorties...You could prolly pick up a set of used MAC Headers and even make alittle cash off of them...I really dont know how much you should ask for them...I have seen the go for $200 - $350...

And the bubly part is normal from what I have seen...If I was you I would find someone to clean the heads up while they are off the car...A small port and polish job on the heads will do wonders...

Yeah right now I am planning once I have everything paid off to maybe get them P&P by Drews Cylinder Heads here in CO ( he has the best flowing cobra heads in CO) And I will probably be switching to a Comp cam 270 if I have the PTV clearance or a stage 2 VT cam with some beehive springs! I also think that I would like to do a set of MAC or BBK longtubes with a Prochamber! Decisions decisions! I cant wait to get them on there, and get new track times with these and get new Dyno numbers!!

check the valves bro make sure none are bent. and none of the springs, valves keepers and retainers arent missing. plus you will need valve seals if ya dont already have some. Have a machine shop check all this out for ya. plus make sure that the head to block surface is plain. check that its not warped.

Yeah its not warped! I did check to see if any of the valve stems are bent and all of them fell right into the holes! all the keepers and retainers are here too! What are the valve seals you are talking about? The guy bought these heads, and Patriot/ Alabama said that they were fully assembled! How much should valve seals cost? And can you hook me up with gaskets? lol And what type of bolts would you recommend? ARP or just normal Ford? Thanks a bunch!

I might have a set of head gaskets at work just laying around I will try and remember to check. APR are better bolts. But if your on a budget the fords will work until you deceide to go FI.

your gonna need a nearly complete gasket set so if I aint got a set. I cant get a set for cost plus 10% which is my cost. But Im almost sure I got some head gaskets but you need more than that. I will get a price on a complete set, and unless Im mistaken they come with head bolts.

seriously matt.......as long as u didn't pay an arm for everything, it looks like u got a great deal. You can sell some of that stuff to pay it off, and get ur parts on there quicker. Seriously man, ur one of the luckiest 16 year olds i ever met. I know u work for everything, and i know u do most of ur own work, and thats so much better then having a 30k dollar car handed to u and a trust fund to mod it. I wish u good luck.

Yeah everthing I need gasket wise is PI! Whaoo! lol and ill go and get a picture of the exhaust studs coming out to show you for sure! And thanks for getting me a price on that complete set of gaskets! And I will be looking into the arp studs/ bolts and seeing if I can afford it! Again I want it done correctly the first time!

And Ragtop! If I sold my intake and my headers I would have everything covered! thats how cheap I got them!

Nice lil Xmas present ehh.....or chanukah(thats def not how to spell it) I have a lot of coincidences happen in my life, like one of my good friends entire family has birthdays that match my family's. Figured it would have been funny if we bought ares closer to eachother, i'm Feb 27th.

If ur selling ut intake i'm interested man, mines cracked and in two days i'm gonna be financially free to start fixing my flaws. I'd be happy to take it off ur hands so u can get those heads on all the much sooner.
My buddy might even be interested in ur headers, he's got a 98 dark satin green 4.6 with a semi complete exhaust.

Yeah man I will be thinking about the intake I already have one person in interested in it! I really dont know what to sell it for!

And for the headers I mean I can send him as many pictures as he needs! I dont know quite yet if I want to keep them and just keep my o/r H or go bit the bullit and go with LT and a shorty Prochamber! We will see! Let me know how much you would be willing to do on the PI intake! BTW I also dont know if I want to use the new in box intake for my swap or just the one I have! I have had a lot of thoughs come to mind today!

1.) Get some stage 8 header bolts.
2.) Sell those BBK's- they are a pain in the ass. If you are short on cash, get some Flowtech longtubes. They are great headers for the price.
3.) Don't get the Comp 270's- You WILL have some half moons in your pistons.
4.) If you need any help at all, feel free to get up with me. I'll PM you my # when you get ready to start.
5.) You will probably have to use stock head bolts unless you pull your motor. There is no way to install the studs and place your heads on them without removing alot of things. You won't have enough comprssion to really need more holding power than the stock bolts can handle anyway.

I paid only for shipping for the first intake manifold but it was used and the shipping turned out to be a little more concidering it was from HI.

What cam would you suggest AC? and what would stage 8 header bolts do? THanks! So nobody has guessed on how much I spent yet!
