TPS reading backwards

just like it says, back to square one with everything, the TPS is reading like 4v at idle and it goes down when u give it gas. isn't it supposed to go the OTHER way? in the book it says it should be at like 0.95-1.0 at idle and go up to 5v at full throttle..

i don't get whats wrong but i've replaced it and the same thing.. the original one was hopping all over, this one is more steady but its still wrong.. anyone know ?

I have been racking my brain for the past 10 seconds, and the only thing I can think of is you got the wrong wires. I am sure it isn't but make sure its not reading ohms. See the reason I say it is the wrong wires is because it is a potentiometer. You have a ground on one end of a resistance and a hot wire on the other end. You have the wire going to the eec to tell it where the throttle is that is moved along that resistance when the throttle moves. If you have one probe on the eec wire and one on the hot wire it will read higher the closer the eec wire is to the ground on the resistance(idle) and less the further away it gets for ground (wot). Sort of like putting your battery in the trunk and hooking the ground to the body in the trunk. The body creates more resistance and the ground weakens before it gets to the sparkplugs and 02 sensors. Try that, switch wires.

what the book told you is right. i would conclude that you have a bad tps.
when they go bad usually they will show 5v at idle
