No fuel pressure, Fuel gauge went above full and stayed.
I'm having a fuel pump problem I have a 96 GT. It has been parked for awhile so when I went to start the car the battery was bad I tried boosting it no go but I did notice the fuel gauge went above the full mark and stayed there. I installed a good battery but cant get it to start I can add fuel through the intake and it will fire up and run till that fuel is burned. When I turn on the key switch the fuel pump isnt running and I have no fuel pressure at all. I checked the voltage at the pump which is 6.5 volts the voltage at the fuel pump kill switch in the trunk is also at 6.5 volts. Voltage seems too low and I cant find a fuel pump relay. I have also noticed a clicking on the passenger side of the engine when the key is turned on (about 3 clicks) never heard it before unless the fuel pump hum disguised it. considering the fuel gauge went to full and stayed and the pump isnt kicking on I thought the pump was down but the voltage makes me think its something electrical possibly caused from the boosting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

relay is bad, i beleive its under the hood in the fuse box look at your owners manual it tells you the location. if not you have corrosion some where in the wire or harness

No fuel pump relay in the box under the hood. Owners manual doesnt mention it either. I think the relay will be my problem when I locate it.

I believe that the relay is bad as well... same thing happened to my SHO.
it isn't in the box but it should be near the box under the hood.. |

well check the fues for the fuel pump to be sure that its not corroded or bad and causing resistance. otherwise the relay is most likely in line. also check the inertia switch. it could be bad.

I'll check for the relay under the hood see if I can spot it out. Fuses are good and I get 6.5V on both sides of the inertia switch. I'll check for corrosion. I appreciate all the help.

The electrical system has a fuel pump control relay controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM) which provides power to the fuel pump through an inertia fuel shutoff switch which is normally closed. The electrical system provides power to the fuel pump through two relays:
fuel pump relay and powertrain control module relay. Locate fuel pump relay in the engine compartment power distribution center and remove fuel pump relay.
