Help, in the middle of PI cams/intake swap

I have a '96 GT and have the engine all tore down and am ready to take out the cams. I ordered a new PI coolant tube from Randy @ Modular Depot, but when I try to install it, it won't fit over the metal tube that is pressed into the back of the water pump. It came with a new nipple but that doesn't seem to help. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks,
Steve

I ordered mine directly from a dealership and didn't have any problems. I bought a PI nipple just incase (some 98's have the PI nipple already) because I didn't want to make another trip or wait another day. Its still sitting in my garage in the package.

yup i ran into that problem, and had to get the car back up and running, so i just bypassed the heater core...but id suggest not doing that. You have to remove the old nipple, then you can put the new one in.

Yeah I've heard of people doing that also with the hose and clamps. Doesn't sound like it would be a problem. As long as there isn't a kink it it to restrict the flow. But give Randy a call...I've delt with him a few times on getting stuff for my PI swap and he could probably help you out. But I guess whatever works.

Thanks for the replies! Me and my brother pounded on the old nipple and it finally went through. The new nipple just fits right in there. Back on track now!
