PI Stuff and light in dash

alright so i'm killing two birds with one stone with this topic.

first of all, instead of getting a catback as my first mod would it be better to do the PI intake? also, what's a good price on those, and what about the Typhoon PI intakes, how are those cause i heard the stock PIs crack after a while. also, will the Typhoon fit on NPI heads but just need mods to it? aaaaannnnd, i wanna do the PI Cam swap but i was just wondering if it'd be better to get some NPI Comp Cams as well as some aftermarket NPI heads due to people saying that the PI heads don't go very well with any supercharger. opinions please.

and second of all, i was driving on the highway today on my way to work and i hit about 90 and the light on the far right side of the dash came on. it's like a little box with an "X" in it (might be a symbol of a fan i guess) and it looks like the box has a squiggly line through it, possibly indicating water. what's this light and what's the problem that occurs when this light comes on?

I cant say 100% for sure but I would say you could put the typhoon on using the same modifications as you would to do the npi to pi intake swap.
Check out www.modularmustangs.com they have a performance intake specifically for 2v npi mustangs.

Yes you can put a Typhoon on NPI heads. There is a company I beleive called livernois racing or something like that, that sells an adaption kit. The kit isn't a must have but in my opinion it is more reliable than using cilicone, but most people just use some cilicone, works fine.

And on the plastic intakes cracking. It is 99% of the time the cross over on the front most part of the manifold that cracks. Stock it is usually plastic. Typhoons come stock with an aluminum cross over. Just be sure if you get an stock plastic PI intake it has an aluminum cross over. You can pick those for $180 all day on ebay or at online shops. Typhoons are usually around $400, I bought one and love it.

And that light is your coolant light for sure. If you put more coolant in and it comes on again later down the road then you have a coolant leak and your cross over is probably already cracked. So check your spark plugs to make sure coolant isn't filling up in those holes.(It sucks, I know, it happened to me)

Stay away from typhoon! You will gain more power on your car with just a normal PI intake. You will not be cracking it unless you have a nitrous backfire. The typhoon has had way too many problems for me to trust it! I say just use the normal PI intake with the silicon. There will not be one problem!

that's good advice. what about the heads and cams? you think i shoud later on get some performance heads for my NPI since i might go blown in the future and also, should i get PI cams or some comp cams?

edit:also, Matt. if i'm not wrong then you're driving at a high altitude. when adjusted for altitude, how much horsepower do you have? or does altitude not play a role?

Well at my altitude I have 192.5 HP. This is low because of my altitude and they AWD dyno I was on. The dyno easily took 20-30 HP and the altitude takes a little horsepower because of less oxygen, but it is a lot more noticeable at the track!

Also what type of plans do you have for the car? That will depend on the way you go with performance parts!

well, what i wanted to do was make it a tad bit more powerful and sound like a modern day muscle car then give it to my brother and buy an 03/04 Cobra and make that into a monster. buttttt, now i just want to possibly make it the fastest 98 GT in Houston without switching out the engine and what not. maybe, just maybe. (my g/f wanted me to put that in there)
