rear axle? wtf?
well, i have a 98 GT and i'm looking to upgrade the rearend, the car has no balls off the line so to say.
i was unaware though when i looked under the car, the tag on the housing says 3L27 - therefore it's a 3.27 traction lock, but my car is an automatic? i thought all automatics had the 2.73 rear end? also the door tag says axle ME. no books list ME. not the haynes nor the Chiltons.. anyway, 4.10's worth it? any bad effects on gas mileage? etc... 15 flat is getting embarassing in this car.

all mustang gt's came with 3.27's from 96-04. 4.10's are the best gear for auto's imo. hiway milage wont be great, but we dont own v8's to get great milage.

automatics need extra gear so 410s are perfect for it.3.90s are also available too but there wont be much gas mileage difference at all.

They also come with 3.08's, which is what I have. I guess I'm happy, I will notice even more of a difference when I throw 4.10's in.
