rear differential question

i see i got a leak on the front of my rear end. but it is not leakng around the pinion seal it looks like it's coming out the front. i am soon changing to 3.73 gears so i will know what is going on then but where might it be leaking from. any info on the gear swap that i might need to know?

I assume you have done one before?

Sounds like your cover is leaking. Easy fix with some RTV. Good luck on the gear swap.

no i've never done it i am taking it to a mechanic. it is leaking where the universal goes onto the pinion but it does not look like it is leaking around the seal. i have heard that there is a flange that will get grooved does that sound right?

My differential is consistantly oozy / leaky looking. It has only left a visible drop twice, and that was sitting for 3+ days. It is the slowest leak ever known to man in my case. Getting my gears changed, so it'll be taken care of.

I really don't know what location your talking about, then again, I don't known much of anything yet. Just saying mine leaks around the cover, and I'm not that worried about it. I would have to leave the car sit for twenty years before I lost enough fluid to worry.
