6 cats?

I know these cars have just a little more then they need when it comes to the cats so im curious how many are ok to cut out and will i gain anything by doing this or is it just as good to leave them on? im looking for a throatier sound to the car.

dont bother cutting them out, its just a waste of time IMO. if you want to get rid of them just get a o/r mid pipe, you can find some o/r h pipes for pretty cheap. it will sound way better and not to mention free up some power. follow that with a good cat back and you can get that v8 sound your lookin for.

it depends on how much your wanting to spend, MAC, BBK, Magnaflow, and Bassani are all good brands. do note though that although with the right setup these modulars can sound pretty mean, your still not going to get the same sound as you would with a pushrod like your truck. i have bbk shortys, magnaflow tru-x x pipe, and magnapack cat back on my car. its LOUD and sounds mean as hell, people always give me compliments and think i have more done to it than what i really do. this is where i got my exhaust from.

A good sounding exhaust is def. a head turner...I like Mac and BBK. Brenspeed.com has some good stuff, free shipping, and low prices. I get all my exhaust stuff from them and they have great customer service.

so what is the advantage from an x pipe as compared to an H pipe is there much other then the sound quality? i know there should be very slight difference in flow but wouldnt make any difference as long as it's 2.5 inch right?

X pipe you gain 1 more on average horsepower over the H pipe but most people say the H pipe sounds better, if it were me i would go with the H. And to tell you the truth the mustang has the best sounding exhaust IMO...flowmaster 40s =

O and brand Bassani...

Hey i got long tube headers and i got a shorty H-pipe so that it all bolts up and i didnt have to hack up my O/R X-pipe. I will be puttin it all on this weekend and I will be able to sell my O/R X-pipe if your interested. It sounds awesome with the 40 series Flowmasters that i have on it.

Flowmaster is a great bet for that sound you want, however, I can't praise my Spin Tech catback exhaust, long tube headers, and O/R H pipe. Previous owner had it on the car, but I love it.

If I were to do it myself though, I would have went Flowmaster since I couldn't go wrong. Unless you hear the exhaust yourself in person then your stabbing in the dark. Any brand listed here is a safe bet, but for what your looking for I'd say Flowmaster is where you want to go.
