Timing Question

I have a 97 GT vert with the following mods:
MAC 2.5" cat back
Bassani X Pipe w/Cats
Autometer Boost Gauge on A Pillar
SVO Ford Racing SuperCharger w/9lb. pulley
K&N Cone intake
30lb injectors
New computer
Larger fuel pump (255lph)
3.73 gears

I'm hearing detonation with mid to hard acceleration and higher rpm's. I don't have a fuel pressure guage so thought I'd back the timing down for now and a simple fix. I looked under the hood and it appears I'm screwed. I've searched the net for info on timing adjustment and it looks like it's not adjustable without having a new chip burnt. Can someone please confirm/deny that timing is not adjust able on my 4.6L GT motor?
Thanks in Advance,
Sean

did you not have a cutom tune when you did all this work to your car? if not thats not good at all. you need to get it in on the dyno and check everything before you really hurt it. i thin you do have to go thorhg the computer to abck off the timing but i am not for sure about that. anyways welcome to the site and good luck with the car and hope it all works out

The mods were all done by the previous owner. He stated that the new ecu was installed when all the mods were added. The only work i've done on this car is fuel filter, alternator, battery and throw some wider tires on. This is my daily driver so I don't run it hard, especially since I heard the pinging/detonation. I plan to sell the car so want to get it running perfect so it doesn't blow up on me during a test drive or during the first few months of the new owner having it. It's been a great car and surprisingly reliable but 3 cars is just too much for me right now.
If timing isn't adjustable I guess I'll have to get a new tune for it.

It appears that the fuel rail is threaded for a fuel pressure guage-maybe I should check this first. Can someone confirm that the rail is threaded for a guage? Maybe my fuel pressure regulator needs replacing.

i would def get a tune! just to make sure!! just run it on the dyno and check the a/f ratio to see if maybe your lean or rich!

yes, the timing is not adjustable unless it's through a chip. What octane of fuel are you using??

I always use 93.

Guess i'll have to find a dyno in town that has a chip burner available.

Im sorry guys but actually Timing IS adjustable. Steeda and other companys sell a timing adjuster for the 4.6.

When i dyno'd in i wish i could remember the sweet spot for timing, but its slipping my mind right now..

Im gonna go out on a limb and say you have a decent tune already. You have a Ford racing Supercharger.... you dont run it on a stock tune. haha So you must have a tune of some sort. I like to think they are just to get you to a dyno and there get it all set-up and done to youre cars mods. So go hop on a dyno and get her tuned.

Im not saying its deff...... but i still have a miss at any speed. Its more noticable at high speeds if im crusing on the highway doing say 60 mph.... and im steady on the pedal... if i take my foot off and goose it.... it misfires like crazy and then clears up... I have NO clue what it is and i have replaced every thing possible in this car relating to is. I know others have the same problem and there isnt a fix yet. So maybe we are talking about the same thing, maybe not.

Good luck bro.

Don't really want to shell out cash for adjustable timing-was just hoping it was adjustable from the factory.
I know the car either was tuned when the mods were installed or a specific chip was sent with the supercharger kit.

It doesn't hesitiate or miss but the detonation is audible.

I appreciate everyone's input.
