I've been looking at T-56s (or rather fantasizing) and saw a couple rides and saw someone who had a blown 3v stroker with a viper spec t-56. It said it was putting out like 770hp. I know the t-56's limit isn't that high so how is that tranny able to handle that kind of power?

i know exactly what you are saying, ive been doing my reasearch on all mustang trannies lately and find my self asking that same question all of the time. for example my 96 cobra is pushin just about 330 both hp/trq at the crank and i blew the t-45. yet i see people in the 400s with stock t-5s and t-45s. same thing with the t-56s.

Check out G-force. Stock t56's are rated at around 450 ft lb. A Viper spec'd t56 just has harder gears. G-Force kits will get you 600 hp and 500 ft lb rated t5's and 900 hp and 800 fl lb rated t56's. The new 08 Viper is 600 hp.

built t56's are rated around a 1000hp i think. they have 26 spline input shaft, hardend gears, syncros, shift pads, billet keys, hd tube, etc. they are specially made to handle high power set ups. thats why you pay a pretty good chunk of change for one. waveby has one on his car and he will know a little more on the specifics.
