project has been started guys!!!

ok took the 4.6 i have gottent from a friend of mine for 200 bucks..it came out his f150..anyways took the valve covers off and one of the rockers was sitting there on the side of the heads..so we have figured out what was wrong with it lol..ive got everything off except the heads rest the way off and taking the oill pan,and taking the pistons and rods and crankshaft out..then when i get everything off im going to throw it in our hot steam machine that we wash our transmissions in..going to get it to look brand new..then ordering my forged rods pistons..compression is going to be at 9,3.1 or in that area...and boost cams...i just dont know what heads to get..should i just get mine ported and polished??the ones that are on my car right now??

Go with PI heads ind Intake. They allow so much more flow and add a great deal of power. Before you put them on you can get them ported and polished and upgrade the cams in it as well. thats what i am in the middle of doing!

P&P the npi heads and youll get better flow than the pi heads but use pi cams and intake keeps the compression the same but still gives you the powre you are looking for.

So you are saying that non PI heads P&P will flow better then PI heads? that could be understandable, but if you P&P the PI heads you are gona flow way better and it will be a huge gain!

dropped motor is PI

he's order ing parts to lower the compression anyway so it wouldn't even matter

96-01 4.6 truck motors are nPI so if he orders parts for that engine to get the 9.3 whatever compression throwing PI heads would lower it even further hes not goint to want 7.9 or 8.0-1 compression that would be good if he was running 30 lbs of boost but not 15.

no putting PI heads on a NPI block will raise the compression! duh

anyway what I say you do is get some NPI blower/ turbo cams and PI or better intake with the boost you will gain some up to 30 HP, and then just port and polish the NPIs.

not with out a compression ratio of at least 11.0:1. I mean I highly doubt you will see 315 RWHP and 315 RWTQ Again these motors dont breath air and thats why the forced induction works well on them!
