Is it normal for an auto 97 GT to snatch 2nd gear when you go through the gears manually? I have never driven or owned any auto car that would do this...

Why are you manually shifting gears in an auto anyway??? I don't think that it should be doing that, but I only know manual trans.

Well, i only do it every know and then when i start missing my old manual... It seems to run alot harder and feels like it gets more out of each gear. It shifts alot earlier if I just leave it in drive

J-mod and a converter and the autos are great, I love a manual but for the track (drag) an auto is the way to go.

Well, I guess I kinda got lucky then because I have a bad left knee due to a baseball injury years ago and pushing in a clutch made it hurt pretty often so I opted for an auto, plus my wife loves the car but can't drive a stick... go figure
