Transmissions


alright well most of you know me, i drive this....



its auto...wish it wasnt but is it bad to shift with the auto tranny i have been told it is and i have been told it isnt, i usually only do it to burn some rubber or get out of snow haha...but i was just wondering since i have heard both...

i used to down shift in my z28 auto......but the only reason i did was to slow down.....i never did it trying to make the car go faster or get out of snow.....

tranny had 100+k and ran fine till the day i hocked her

ok i rebuild em man..theres nothing wrong with doing that..but in a race just throw it in drive man..dont shift it yourself..im about to mine so my dad and i are building it to take 650 horses or more..putting new clutches in it seals and transgo shiftkit..not doing no stall convertor cuz i drive this thing daily and need some kind of gas mileage...

just wondering but how do you go about beefing up a tranny to get to those high HPs?

heay duty clutches..could put a stall convertor but im not..hardended steal for planetary gears..shift kit also helps more flow for more fluid threw the tranny..also pump i can port the main feed holes..why ya ask??

I wouldn't downshift it into first, anytime I do that in a car it just slams. Hell, I don't downshift into first unless I'm at a stop. Other than that, you should be fine. The car will run faster keeping it in drive, at least that is how my old automatic was.
