ticking problem please help!!!!!

Well I finished the PI swap today and I have an oil leak at the driver's side valve cover. That is actually an easy fix, but I also have a ticking noise that I can't isolate yet because I only ran my car for about 10 seconds because of the oil leak. Could it just be that since I was leaking oil pretty badly that the lifters and all that stuff haven't built up the oil pressure yet to work quietly? I am hoping that is just that or maybe the tensioners for the timing chains since they are oil pressure dependent as well. I am fairly sure that it is not PTV problems because I cranked the motor with the coils unplugged 15 or 20 times before I fired it up and they didn't hit the pistons at all then. Does anyone have any ideas, I need to get my car back up again.

get that valve cover leak fixed! See if it stops when you start it back up and get oil in there. Also what cams did you go with? And also did you replace the lifters? If you didnt I would say its the lifters ticking especally if you went with any aftermarket cam! Anyway let me know!

I left the stock PI cam in there. I couldn't come up with the money to get any aftermarket cams yet. I eventually will.

did you reuse your old followers? Reason being, the PI cams have a higher lift and that is what might be causing the ticking!!

I'm guessing it is the lash adjusters/lifters needing to finish pumping up.
