Flywheel

Ok, I'm trying to find a flywheel for my car. The shop says they will not wait to have my current flywheel resurfaced. I know I need a six bolt. (1997 GT). I know aluminum flywheels free up power, but how will it affect daily driving? Does anyone know where to find a flywheel for a good price?
Oh, and how much power am I looking at if I do get a alumninum one?
Thanks

Honestly a aluminum flywheel is only going to do well on a car that runs on road courses and such. The lighter wheight of the flywheel actuall loses power down low due to it's (lack of) mass compare to the factory unit. Count on doing alot of weight reduction to make it worth your while. The aluminum flywheel will help in the mid to upper ranges once the car is moving. A better buy would be an aluminum driveshaft, it actually works well when compared to a flywheel.......

Ok, what about the spec flywheels on americanmuscle.com. I dont want a aluminumn one. I'm guessing billet steel is what I'm looking for since I dont want to lose power down low.

Don't waste your money unless it is SFI approved. The only reason to change a flywheel is if yours is bad (cracked or warped beyond resurfacing) or you need if you need one for safety issues. If they won't wait a day to resurface a flywheel find a new shop, they should be able to have it done (resurfacing) in a hour or two if they are a reputable shop......

I just bought a flywheel on ebay. It had just went up. Its a stock one and brand new. I got it for 170 shipped. So I'm going to probably resurface my old one and then sell it to pay for this one (or some of it). I appreciated your responses. the reason I need one is the shop will not wait for me to have the one in it resurfaced and they were wanting to put it in without resurfacing. I was like......umm no. lol
Thanks again.

Oh and they are a local shop and the closest machine shop that could resurface is about an hour away. So two hours driving plus 2 hours machine shop time plus if the machine shop can even do it that day.

I put a fidanza Alum flywheel in my stang.
its not bad, definately gets to redline faster once i hit my powerband
shifting is smoother and you can feel it not being as hard on the drivetrain
downsides:
-Bitch to get rolling compared to a heavy flywheel. Unless u got a lotta power id say stick with billet. the car tends to try to stall out instead of pulling forward when just letting off the clutch. I find myself having to ride the clutch a bit and rev it at stop. I dread traffic hour!
