A p0401 will come on for a bad DPFE. Its a small silver or black looking box with two egr hoses going from it to the egr tube. Replace that and you'll be all set. Trust me.

what tube are you all talking about ? If youre talking about the EGR tube...i have never seen one clogged. If its clogged you have other problems.

the DPFE sensor always goes bad and you can tell by removing it from the two rubber tubes and banging it on a table or something and seeing the water come out of it.

This is what I found.

Heard a lot about the DPFE sensor. Could be it. Sunday I fixed a vaccum leak and the light went off Monday morning driving to work. I'll see how it goes. Thanks for the feed back.

DPFE's are bad to go out during season changes and weird weather. Condensation builds up and burns the DPFE out. Take it off and see if you can shake some water out of it like Casper was saying.

Question ?

Could a DPFE cause any driveability issues ?
