Can I have bigger filter inside fender?

Hi, I found this K&N filter laying around in my garage and was wondering how I could get this inside of my fender. I was thinking that I could remove the splash gaurd and slap it on, but will it be simple or should i forget it. There has to be a simpler way. Any imput would help. Thanks

Splash guards are important when you live in Seattle. That is, if you drive your car ever.
