I just put in the 99 CD slave since they're known for breaking before that apparently.

I wasn't about to deal with it, I think the Mach 460 sounds great. I don't want to waste money and weight on another setup. That and I really like the 90s radio look it has. Fun really.

There is alot of rewiring involved to keep the stock amps and speakers with an aftermarket head unit (to do it the RIGHT way). If you are that concerned with the sound then just upgrade the whole system. That's what I had to do. I hated the way the 460 sounded but that's just personal preference. All in all unless you want to spend the $$ and have the time just keep it stock.

Thats not true, they sale a harness for it, there's even a write up somewhere that a moderator did when putting an aftermarket deck into his 460..........i'm gonna look for it.

Oh well no shit!! LOL. I guess someone actually makes one. That should be a sticky... lol

Well then disregard my last post. I stand corrected. I still didn't like the 460 sound though. IMO, once it got too loud it got all distorted. Plus, once you hear a nice and crisp sound from an expensive stereo (and I don't mean like thousands of dollars or anything) maybe $400 or so you really can't go back. All in the preferences...

sounds like u may have a blown speaker or two. In my 03 i used to be able to max the treble bass and volume out and put my ear up to the speaker and it would be crisp...

I did have one blown speaker. Passenger-side floor speaker now that I think of it. But it still doesn't compare to a totally aftermarket sound system. Like I said, it was just something I liked better. I'd get into my friends mustang and he had all JL audio and Rockford Fosgate stuff and it was orgasmic. It wasn't a "ghetto thumper", don't get me wrong, but you could hear every little thing in the song.

i've got an after market stereo too

so does my buddy, but his is wired into the mach 460

his is louder because of the amped speakers, but other then that they sound the same. Are Bass is about the same right now, but our aftermarket amps are tuned dif. Mine is meant for all around the sound spectrum, where as his is meant to really only lbs the low bass notes

What you need to do is get the upgrade for the Mach 460 system, which is the Mach 1000 system. It's freaking sweet. You get 2 10" subs, 4 more speakers, and 4 more amps that are mounted on the top underside of your trunk...it looks effin nice!

ebay.........

but it's not as loud as an aftermarket stereo, and for the money that u spend getting the subs and amps and all the fascia's u could go out and spend half on 2 12' subs and a 1200 watt amp.

my setup sounds 10x better then the mach 460, and i haven't even put power to my reg speakers yet, there just running off the deck.

of course, ur trunk won't look factory......

x10

The mach 1000 is only abother set of amps and some subs...

You can have alot better set-up with aftermarket for less cash...

Mach Systems suck...Be it 460 or 1000...

the only thing i really regret about my stereo is that my box isn't custum cut for my trunk and subs, i had to have the box from my 95z28' butchered to squeezed into my trunk. i can fit about 3 lunch boxes, an emergency kit(small) and a blanket in my trunk.

what u really need to take into consideration is what u want to hear.

when i bought my stereo i had already heard exactly what it would sound like in another car, and it's the sound that i wanted. I've since then upgraded to the amp that was made for my subs, and plan on replacing my aftermarket speakers that where in there with better aftermarkets and put power to them.

remember that it's not 1 part that makes a stereo sound good, it's every part. Sound can be very tricky to make sound right the more power u apply. i've spent a total of about 800 on my stereo, and i still need to uprgrade my deck and speakers that came with the car, but my stereo sounds just as good as my friends who have spet 4000 or more.

it's all about the time and research.
