pi intake and cam vs stock pi motor

Ok I have a friend with a stock pi motor cai exhaust and a 100 shot and my car is pi intake and cam swapped with a bigger gear and a 100 shot. His runs a 12.7 on the juice but shouldn't our cars be almost the same. The only gain he would have is a little more exhaust flow from the heads other than that why else would it be faster?

Same trans and rear gears? He'll get a bump in compression also with a pi swap going from NPI. It, if I remember right it makes the motor higher compression than the PI motor due to different pistons in the NPI and smaller combustion chambers in the PI heads compared to the NPI heads

Its just a pi motor, not a pi swapped motor. I don't think you would be to far behind but who knows. Those PI heads work wonders on these engines.

And yours is a 96 with just pi heads/intake and cams right? Factory lower end? Mileage? Is it tuned and cams degreed?

His car is a pi swap according to his mods, statement and car in garage (96 gt)

All I see is that he swapped in PI cams and intake manifold. No mention of PI heads. In that case, the PI motor is going to have the upper hand. What gears do you and your buddy have?

He has 373's. And I have 4.10's. His is a 99-04 mine bbk cai catless x. And mine is a 96 with pi intake and cams o/r x bbk cai sct tune. So it should have almost the same power correct?

I was looking at the head flow and the intake is is extremely close and the exhaust is where the difference is but still not by much so it shouldn't be a big difference

If all you've done to the engine is the intake manifold and cam swap, he'll have the upper hand. The intake isn't where the PI engines get their power, it's the cylinder heads. The intake side of the head is a huge improvement. The cams and intake don't really net you much. He has 260 crank hp, all you've done is get to around 240-245 crank hp if you're lucky, strictly talking about the engine here, not taking Ito account other bolt ons.

This pi cam and intake swap vs pi motor has been beat to death. Some claim the power in the pi swap is the cam and intake with the heads net 5 more horses and 5 for the compression and some say the heads is where the gains are lol.

With the mods you both have, especially with you having a tune, that the hp is close enough that I would think it's a drivers race. I have just the PI cams and Intake, catted X-pipe and some other little mods with no tune and dyno'd at 229 rwhp. Other (mostly) stock 99-04 GTs dyno'd right on top of what I put down at this same dyno. Go line 'em up and go take him with some good driving!
