Motor Swap


Need help. I have a 96gt. I want to do a motor and trans swap with a 96 Cobra engine and trans. I haven't started yet but do I need the wiring harness and ecu off of the Cobra? Anthing else that I need to pull? I got the rear end of the Cobra already. Please help

Just my opinion but... Are you dead set on doing a cobra swap?? I mean, if you can get an engine for mad cheap then that's a defferent story. But I would still consider mod the GT. For all that cash and time you would spen you could easily put full bolt ons and a FI. Just thought I'd chime in.

But yes, you will need both of those for the swap.

The only reason I am thinking about the swap is because I can get the engine, manual trans and complete rear end assm for $800.00.

If all that stuff works and isn't on it's way to Mustang Heaven, then go for it. That is stupid cheap. If they're parting that out so cheap where is the Cobra? It couldn't be much more to flat out buy the car unless they did a full motor swap into the Cobra. Those parts are so damn cheap, what's up with them? Hell, even if the motor was dropped into a lake for 3 weeks and pulled out they could still strip it down and sell a ton of the parts.

I know, thats why I was thinking of the motor swap. My 4.6 has got to be rebuilt anyway, thats when I thougt of doing the swap. I see if i can get the whole car. Thanks again.
