Can you brake stand above 2500 rpms? Will it just stop at 2500 rpms and not go up higher? You should spin the tires at about 1500rpms, but you could have a vaccum leak, poor seals on the intake manifold, or a messed up converter in the tranny.

I wouldnt worry about smoke or black marks as much as what is wrong with the car. Are you throwing any DTC's? Does it still rev up to redline in P and N? How about shifting manually from 1,2,D? What if overdrive is off?

do you have T/C on yours if so it will cut your gas, timming and put brakes to one or both back wheels(in that order too)

other then that I see a leak in your manifold and vacuum is not that high so test that before you do your gaskets

Seriously doubt the intake being the problem here, and would say your chances would be with the vaccuum. Try that and let us know what you find out.

I always loved those GT rims, just wanted something with aftermarket and found it.

Know what I hate? Govenors in cars! Only been in one car that I know had a govenor and had it kick in (or off lol!).
