Help with ABS system

The ABS light on my 96 Cobra came on the other day and now it keeps blowing the fuse for the brake lights. I can replace the fuse and all is good until I hit the brake pedal, then pop! I just had my motor built, and the guy told me to bring it back and he'd check it out, but I wanted to try to fix it myself. I don't wanna spend the $$$ to take it to a dealer. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

welcome to the forums.

check your abs lines on your brakes.

you might have knocked a sensor loose.

your brake light switch under the pedal is possibly shorting to ground

ABS

I've already replaced the brake light switch. It won't blow the fuse until the car is rolling. In other words, I can put in a new fuse and everything will work fine- even the brake lights- but the first time I hit the brakes after the car starts moving it will blow the fuse. I've looked under the car and all the ABS sensors seem to be ok, could a bad sensor cause it to do this? Maybe the pump's not working? I don't have a clue about ABS stuff. Thanks again for any help!

What else is on that circuit? Look in your owners manual, find that fuse, and what else is using that fuse?

I don't have an owners manual(bought it used), but when the fuse blows, I lose brake lights, turn signals, and hazard lights. I'm gonna take it back to the shop that built it for some tuning adjustments, they said they'd check it out for me. I just wish I could figure it out. Gonna check the sensors this weekend by unplugging them one at a time to see if that changes anythin Somebody told me the rears are the ones that detect motion, and one on the diff. I guess we'll see.. I'll post if it fixes it. Thanks again for your help.

I got the problem fixed! There is a wiring harness that goes across the top of the radiator and down to the ABS module. Some of the wires had bad places in them and were shorting out against the radiator.
