over heating

alright i was driving home from school stop and go traffic well no go actually, all of sudden my fan comes on then 5 min later my temp guage skyrockets and i start to smoke, I turn on the heat and push my car to the shoulder, i pop the hood coolent all over the battery the power steering pulley, and all over my dipstick, i open the coolent reservoir it had enough coolent before i release the pressure, then the pressure lets off and all the coolent is gone, i look to see on the highway the spot where i started to smoke and their is collent everywhere.. so i got a tow to my perofrmance shop 6 hours later...any thought what it could be? my guess is a thermostat because the colling fan was coming the last 2 weeks even with low temps outside.

yea.. the non pi intakes and even the pi ones are prone to cracking.

well.. it's at the shop now so our suggestions don't really matter do they?

I say it's one one these things:

Radiator
Thermostat
Intake
Bad hose.

this same thing happened to my dad when he owned the car 2 years ago except his fan blew and they replaced the whole fan assembly so i know its not the fan, the thermostat looks corroded as hell and i just went out side and i have the alluminum crossover
