Modded 1998 Mustang GT. Looking for horsepower estimate.
I have a 98 GT with a H-Pipe with no cats, Flowmasters, Trick flow upper intake elbow, and a CAI. any idea of the HP that I might be getting? I just bought the car and it feels like alot. not sure if its chipped or other gears in it. but it squaks in 2nd. Oh yeah its a automatic.
Thanks |

I was looking at the specs for them stock and it says 225hp. Is that at the motor?

yes. 225 at the motor is correct.
200 rwhp is a good guess based on your mods. |

In an auto, I would put money on you being right around 190. NO WAY your at 200 rwhp

Oh and I bet that what your feeling and whats chirping 2nd gear is a set of 4.10's.

Honestly, I don't know if it would be the 4.10's or not. Unless my gears have been switched out (which I dont think they have)my stock 3.27's do the same thing. I have a 97 auto and it will chirp 2nd pretty damn hard. If i go through the gears, yea yea I know most people dont do this in an auto, it feels like its going to jump sideways. Granted I may be a little higher than 190 but still... I doubt its enough to equal his power plus 4.10's

I dont have to go threw the gears in order for it to chirp 2nd. I just put it in drive and nail it and there is goes. It does pull hard when it chirps also. How do I know what gears are in it? The previous owner did do some suspension mods as well.

Do you know for sure that they have been changed out? I know there is a gear calculator for a manual but I dont believe there is one for an auto.
Mine will also chirp 2nd if I nail it but thats because I have a few other upgrades (full catback exhaust, UD pullies, PI intake, MAF upgrade, CAI). You could possibly have 4.10's or 3.73's. What rpms do you run at 60 or any other mph you know of?

Just a guesstimate... Not spending money yet on a dyno pull. I dont know for sure that they have been swapped out. I just purchased the car and have no clue what was done to it besides what I stated above.
I know that with O/D off and in 3rd gear going about 55mph my RPM's are at or around 2500-2600 |

well, just for comparison, I have 3.27's stock and mine in o/d going 60 is usually setting right at 2k. Going 40, im right around 1300.
If you decide you want to spend about $300 on a good mod, do yourself a favor and get a PI intake. It makes a HUGE difference on our cars, especially past 3k. Plus you'll get around 15-20 hp out of it
