removing passenger side o2 sensor

For any of those that did mid-pipe swaps, what did you use to get off the passenger side o2 sensor so you could get to that header bolt? I have the other 3 header bolts off(for one the bolt threaded out of the header...hmmm) but this last one is a pain.

Thanks for any input - Drew

I have PB blastered the heck out of it. Im more speaking of getting a wrench to it and what size wrench. My crescent wrenches aren't that big and my adj wrench is to wide to fit into the space. I know there is a special tool, but if anyone knows of a good way to get at it, it would be helpful.

Thanks

I believe we just took a wrench to mind and some elbo grease. Also, that header bolt your getting ready to tackle is a pain. May I suggest impact swivels and an impact.

All you need is an extension and swivel for your header bolts, I left my O2's on and maneuvered around them.

i know what you're talking about... that thing is a pain. i put on my o/r pipe last week. i took the sensor off first, because it wasn't that tight, using a 7/8 (i think) wrench. then to get to that bolt i used an 18mm socket attached to a u joint and a couple extensions, with a breaker bar attached to the end.

good luck, and know I feel your pain!

yeah, I was able to get the sucker out. The largest open ended I had was a 3/4 so I took off the rear o2 sensor and took it to the store w/ me and picked up a 7/8". No problem after that. The impact definatel helped. I used a lot of PB blaster, but the threaded ends came out of the headers instead of the nuts off of the bolts....oh well. Now I just have to take off the hangers and take the whole assembly off. sigh...all I need is time!

I had more difficulties getting that 02 sensor back on than I did getting it off... confined spaces like that really fill up the ol' swear jar in a hurry. One of my ancient swivels actually broke in half at it's swiwel joint in the process of breaker-barring loose one of those header bolts. Pain in the ass job if you ask me - especially if you don't have a lift and have to try and get leverage whilst lying on the ground. After installing a midpipe I can't imagine how big a pain installing some long tubes would be :wink

yeah, the bolt came out of the header for the passenger outside bolt for me. i put the sensor back in before i mounted that sucker in there because my bbk pipe left me room to tighten up the bolt to the header. much easier in my opinion

now the bolts that connect the rear to the cat back are the strangest thing i've ever seen... pain in the butt to try and get those snug, and scratched the heck out of the side of my pipe too.
