rough idling, code p1443
Couple of plroblems, #1 code on cpu says that piston 2 is misfiring, already changed sparkplugs(oem), wires(MSD), And coils(msd), and also changed evaporative purge valve sensor(oem). Car still runs rough and weak. It used to clear up when I would rev the engine up for a little but now not even that will do it. Already pressure tested fuel system and it was fine. So could that mean that there is a problem with the fuel injectors? #2, Due to changing ignition parts, I would like to know what the spark plug gap calibration should be now. Any response will be greatfully apreciated. Car is a 98 gt 4.6, automatic due to wifes inabilty to drive manual

ecc can detect misfire with restrictive fuel system or in your case possibly a dirty or misfiring injector...

I just fixed my code P1443 by replacing the EVAP purge valve and purge valve assembly. the code P1443 is just a EVAP system code. so it could be that you canister is cloged or you just need a new purge valve like I did. wich purge valves are more likly to go bad befor the canister. but hopfully its just the purge valve because it took me 10 minuts to replace both purge valve and assembly. if it is the canister you would have to remove your inner fender. so either way its pretty simple. but the others like rougf Idel and missfire I dont think P1443 has anything to do with it. because its just for emmisions. hope this helps......

my gf's t-bird had same problem. upper intake manifold was cracked at heater hose fitting on passenger side/ rear of the manifold. coolant was leaking into the plug hole and fouling out spark. just a thought. good luck.

thanks for the input guys, already changed the purge solenoid and valve and erased codes, now i just have to wait and see if the code p1443 comes back.
But now that mark mentioned about the intake manifold being cracked, I have been smelling the odor of antifreeze when it leaks on to something hot and just today i saw some mist comming from right around the area that he mentioned. Once again thanks for the input guys.
