More EGR questions... Anyone here get rid of em' on a DOHC
#1 What do the actual EGR's look like?
#2 What is the big black deal in the passengers fender? Lines from exhuast runs to a lil siver "valve" lookin deal, (on both front sides of motor) then rubber lines run to this black box. Can that go? #3 Ok... What all can i get rid of and how many block of plates do it need? Do i have to make my own block off's?

The egr is on the drivers side of the intake manifold. All you need to do is cap off the vacuum lines running to the controller right next to it and unplug the controller.(dont have to but you might as well get that outta there). Remove the actual EGR and put a block off plate from like UPR or any performance company. Just unbolt the tube from your manifold and either bend it or cap it off once you remove it.

The EGR can go, but I don't know anything about it.
That box in the passenger side fender is probably the charcoal canister. Something with gas vapors while the car isn't running. That little valve thing (solenoid) that you were talking about is the cause of a very common emmissions code relating to the EVAP system. If you ever get the code just replace that and the sensor. At an overpriced dealer it shouldn't run you more than $85 for both. |
