Sluggish and Pinging P1443 Code ?

I have nothing done to this car but the check engine light is on and the code is P1443 Evaporative system. What would be the symptoms if the evap valve is bad? What is happening is the car does not really want to rev up real high. It goes to 3800 and then starts pinging like it is running lean. This car feels real slow and and when I get on it I hear alot of noise under the hood like when you would get on the old muscle car Carbed cars when the 4 barrels would kick in, only problem is this one makes noise and that is about it. hopefully some one can clue me in here as to what is happening. Thanks

that code is constantly going off in my car......i've tripped it like 4 or 5 times

it's ussually because i used cheap gas and let it run too low.......once was because i left the car running on fill up.

but ur problem sound a little more.......well of a problem then mine really is.

My car did that too...turns out that one of the cats was plugged up...I put a BBK Xpipe on it and WOW my car ran again....so look at those

funny, one of my cats is plugging up too.........

I can't for the life of me remember which 2 sensors I changed to rid that P1443 code, but I'll look at my Ford receipts if I can find 'em and letcha know the part #'s. 100 bucks, no more code.

A bad cat or two would definitely make a car feel sluggish.

Amen!

But be careful... if a car isn't breathing correctly on the top end, opening up the bottom end (ie uncorking the exhaust when it's really the intake with problems) will only make matters worse.

I think if you rid that code by replacing the malfunctioning sensors, perhaps the air/fuel delivery problem will be irradicated thus solving the "sluggish" feel of the car.
