Installing x pipe questions
So me and a buddy got about halfway thru taking off the stock H-pipe on my car last night, but we ran into a snag on the passenger side header, we are using a 1/2 drive ratchet with a 12in extension, swivel and the socket but we can't seem to get the socket in there right where we can get some good leverage. I'm actually thinking of just lowering the k-member a little so we can get to that side better but I'm not sure what That all entails, but last night we sheared off the end of the extension trying to get the damn nut loose so we need to figure out some other way to do it, also, what is the easiest way to take out those bolts on the headers once the pipes coming off are off?

Anyone? Seriously I need to know how the hell I can get that damn pass side lower nut off the manifold, I need to get this damn thing figured out. I'm debating just getting a sawz-all and just cutting the damn mounting point for the o2 sensor on the stock h pipe.... Other than that I may have to drop the k-member about a quarter inch or so

I ran into this same problem. See if you can get a shallow 18mm socket on there - my deep was too tall to fit on there. I took the sensor off before getting the pipe off, so i'd try to do that. Once I broke it with a wrench I could just twist it out with my fingers. Don't forget the WD-40!
The Ford guys really goofed when they designed this. Pain in the arse >.< |

take off the o2 sensor. If you don't have the right sized wrench, like me, take off one of the rear ones and take it to the store with you to get the right size So, once you get off the o2 sensor, use a long extension or two with a swivel at the end and a short socket. I belive I used an impact to get the bolts out also. That made life a little easier.
best of luck... |

I'm so buying an impact after this shit. So far we've sheared off the end of a 1/2 in drive extension, cracked a 3/8 extension, twisted the sqaure bit of a 3/8 ratchet and exploded a swivel.... yes exploded, sparks flew!
