You mean this one????
SAFETY RECALL 99S26 October, 1999 Ford Motor Company has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1999 model year Taurus and Sable vehicles, certain 1999-2000 model year Mustang vehicles and certain 2000 model year Continental vehicles. SAFETY DEFECT In some of the affected vehicles, the safety belt may stick in the stowed position or the belt may not switch into the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode when fully extended. As a result the safety belt may be unusable or incapable of switching into the ALR mode. The ability of the safety belt retractor to lock in the event of an accident is not affected. The driver's safety belt is not equipped with the ALR feature and therefore is not affected. Please refer to your vehicle owner guide for further information regarding the ALR feature and operation. REPAIRS At no cost to you, your dealer will inspect your vehicle's affected safety belt retractor(s) and, as necessary, replace the safety belt(s). Dealers currently have instructions and parts ordering information. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE? The time needed for this repair is less than one-half day. However, due to service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period of time. Please call your dealer for a service date for Safety Recall 99S26 without delay. When you bring your vehicle in, show the dealer this letter. If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge. RENTAL VEHICLES If your safety belt(s) require replacement, the safety belt will need to be ordered. In these cases, your dealer is authorized to provide a free loaner vehicle (except for fuel) until repairs can be completed. CHANGED ADDRESS OR SOLD THE VEHICLE? Please fill out the enclosed prepaid postcard and mail it to us if you have changed your address or sold the vehicle. If the dealer doesn't make the repair promptly and without charge talk to the dealer service manager. You may also contact the Ford Customer Assistance Center by calling toll-free 1-800-392-3673, (1-800-392-FORD), or by writing to Ford Customer Assistance Center, P. O. Box 6248, Dearborn, Michigan 48121. You also may send a complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh Street, S. W., Washington, D. C. 20590 or call the toll free Auto Safety Hotline 1-800-424-9393 (Washington, D. C. area residents may call 366-0123). We regret the inconvenience this service may cause you, but we want you to have the work done for your safety and satisfaction with your vehicle. |
