Heater Core!

Well its come time to put a heater core in my 97 gt. I thought the damn thing would have lasted longer than 84k miles. Even though its a 10 year old car. This is not a task I look forward to doing.

I will see what I can do. Might be a few days though. I gotta save up the $95 for the heater core. Thats for a ford motor craft part. I cant risk buying the $45 one from the parts stores, I have seen and heard horror stories about them lasting 1-2 years before taking a shit in the floor board again.

Well I got the heater core. And I have the dash pulled out. I was hopeing that I could get the heater core out without evacuating the ac system and removing the evaporator core housing behind the dash. No luck. So today I am gonna evac and remove the box.
Taking the dash out wasnt that bad at all. There are a few wiring harness' to disconnect in each of the kick panels and there is 1 hidden bolt on the drivers side and 1 hidden bolt on the passenger side. I will take pics of those as I start to put it back together.

ok ac evacuated, core box pulled out 2 more inches allowing me to raise the lid on the evap core box enough to slide the heater core out and not have to pull the entire box out, because it was being a bitch. slid the new core in and put the 2 8mm lid screws back on.

just keeping some notes here guys so i will have them when i do the write up.

tools set of metric 1/4inch drive deep and shallow sockets. 1/4 swivel. as many 1/4 extensions as you can get a hold of. 1 pry bar, set of fuel line disconnects, flashlight, and patience.
