because idiots and newb's tend to believe them. If you keep coming in and asking smart questions like that last one, you'll probably never make it to the title of idiot. Newb on the other hand... well you won't be one for long.

your going to have a 7 day vacation if you cannot stop belittling people. all in good fun is fine but there is a difference in how you intended to direct your comments and all in good fun.

I dont think he was making fun of anybody. I took it as, the new user is going to learn a lot from his questions, and as a result wont be an idiot.

I wasn't insulting anyone. Try reading the post geniuses, maybe digesting the words then making your knee-jerk reactions based on CORRECT information.

I said, idiots AND newbs as a reference to two distinct groups of people who believe LIES told by parts makers. Since I did call him a newb you can be all pissy about that if you feel like it but that's kinda lame. I also said that SMART questions like this one would PREVENT the title of idiot from ever being applied.

I never called anyone a idiot and I resent the implication that I did by the two non-readers who are appearantly mods (wow...that's good for the site). If y'all can't read then ban me cuz I use big words a lot and I don't need those that refuse to comprehend to be banning me all the time for NOTHING. I don't give two squirts. I was being a positive if ironic voice so I don't really care.

I await your apologies for wrongly accusing me of said behavior.

Hmm, well I cannot attest to Jet's MAF, but a guy in my mustang club installed a larger MAF/injector combo on his 97gt and after a tune to set the air/fuel ratio to where he wanted it, he noticed a 20hp gain on a dyno. Pretty good in my book, for such little parts. I wouldn't think a MAF sensor would yield 19hp on its own, especially on a semi-stock 2-valve.

oh good.. that's what I need. hehehe

gains with the little bolt ons are easier to get in my experience with the 96-98's. Don't know why. Still, 20hp gain was little to nothing to do with the MAF and everything to do with the dyno tune. His car wasn't (I'll bet) tuned very well to start with and after he got the new MAF and injectors on with the new tune done better he saw nice gains. It's a shame the MAF gets the credit when the tuner is the one doling out the magic.

FWIW, I tune my own car with SCT software and a wideband gauge. I know what you can do to a cars performance with just a little blip in the tune. It's not hard to give up 20hp.

If you read the description on most MAF they say Up to 20 considering the accompanying mods. A motor with done exhaust and intake will benefit alot more than a stock engine. So the differance will be between 6 to 20. I found a site a while back that said with a stock engine and everything the Accufab TB and Plenum will yield about 6 RWHP. Not bad, but not huge. If you have an exhaust done and some other stuff, plus the re-tune you can see some bigger gains. Its all about the car supporting it self and being tuned to match. Good dyno tune and good set up will yield way more than the same stuff all mismatched and tuned by you on the street with a hand held.
