Im runnin a 3.60 pulley and am only getting 4 psi at 8000ft. What would be a good size to run to get 8psi?

Im not good on pulley sizes...im more of a turbo guy...I know all about turbine sizes and compressors...But i'd reccomend you call up vortech's tech line and speak with someone. Im 99.99999% positive they can give you an answer

2.70 would kill my poor motor...

and Rando, sure do. the whole thing. One of my earlier exploits, a guy owed me money, had parts, no cash...

holy shit, i thought running a supercharger with the PI swap was dangerous cause of the compression ratio. how much HP and TQ you pushing by the way? and if you got ETs what are they?

You can run one with low boost like 6 or maybe 8 lbs.

That's BS...That's some crap a** customer service.. They could have at least given you a rough estimate...

Sorry bout that..I figured a big company like vortech would have a half decent customer service.. They should have at least "TRIED" to help...

Yea no kiddin!

So, What are safe limits? Im talking NPI, and NPPI lol!(non performance performance improved!)

Id like to run 8, if I had a stock NPI would that be okay? What would you all recommend, because if thats the case, Ill go with my stock heads, pi cams and a psi boost

8 psi wont do any damage to your motor on a good tune. As long you've got a good tune and your not at the 450hp limit of the stock internals your good. 8 psi on a bone stock NPI motor should make at least 280 rwhp.

With pi cams you may put out 10-20 more rwhp...I cant say for sure..I've never modded an NPI motor. Increase under boost is pretty much the same percentage-wise on almost all motors.\

Im still mad they just pushed ou to the side like that...They didnt even attempt to help you with your situation...Totally changes my perception on vortech...

very true stangaddiction, when i had the vortech added to the non pi motor, it was pushing about 8 lbs. and made 298 rwhp. with a GOOD TUNE as stated, you'll be fine. with a crappy tune, you might have some bad luck.

I feel the same way. I called them twice about things I really needed answers to, and they were as veuge and unhelpful as possible. The other thing, is this same blower made over 330 on another NPI Mustang... Who knows I guess. I just dont wanna turn my motor into a nuke that will go when I go to lower altitude. I guess I should drive it the way it is now below 5000ft and see what it makes PSI wise. I wanna air to water intercool it, so thats another thing I guess to think about...

I mean, it runs good at the 4psi, I just lost to a stock Lightning pickup the other day when I had just got my install done. I know they are fast but power to weight I should have taken him.

Thanks all! Really helpful stuff!

so wait you have a PI swap ... the PI swap raises compression?

got some thicker gaskets and raise the boost to 8-10 ... and tune it ... that would work right? i know for a fact that there are thicker gaskets for the 3.8 and its not even a popular motor...

you should know... it is YOUR supercharger...

Ill look for thicker headgaskets... that seems like the best idea.
