Getting A Focus Fuel Pump

Hey,

So I'm finally fed up with my lazy fuel pump (car took forever to start this morning... runs fine though after it fires). Are there any downsides to running the SVT Focus pump? Any worries about getting too much fuel in there?

Thanks

-Humjaba

there shouldn't be any main issues with it at all. You might have to tune it but from what i understand you only have to tune for bigger injectors not better fuel pumps

So what's the verdict? It should only pump as much fuel as is needed, right? Wouldnt make sense to pump a constant amount... it needs more/less at different RPMs...

C'mon y'all

So this will work with out a tune, right? Take old one out, put this one in, and walk away?

you don't have much to lose... if it needs to be tuned for it then you can purchase a tuner too... to help your car out over all.

Make sure you get the right fuel pump... I know that my V6 is a return style... so just make sure you get the right thing

I guess I'll get more than one opinion next time. Onemanzu was right... it is the wrong pump. Not even fricking close. Got all this done and it's the wrong pump. Great goin guys, I appreciate the misinformation.

that there is the right pump, but it has all the assesories you dont need

taken from a different forums

the focus pumps are 255 lph and the install is pretty easy. you take out the focus pump out of the focus basket and put the pump in your basket. i had it done in an hour. make sure you dont drop any screws in you tank though. i had to get the pump for my nitrous. i kept going lean. it solved that after i installed the pump.

Do me such a dick saying we made you buy the wrong shit. u just were trying to install it wrong i bet.

Its an easy install...

Just drill some holes in the bottom of your stock basket...

Its a direct drop in...

Alot of us run them...

That is on the 99-04...

I thought the 96/97 were different...98 is a weird year from what I hear...

It will handle the power you will be making...But you might want to look into a KB Boost-A-Pump...

Isn't the 96-98 a return style fuel system?

You sure they didnt modify anything else?

I know when I was installing my vortech the instructions had a different set-up (fuel pump and such) for the 96-98...

Matt and onemanzu were the only ones to say anything... and my car wasn't drivable so I ordered it. I apologize for being a jerk, but this is pissing me off. Filler neck won't come out, so I have to do this with the gas tank half in the car still. The fuel disconnect tools I bought (because I didn't have them the first time i tried this) didn't come with one for a 1/4" line so we sat around for 15 minutes trying to get that line undone. And when all is said and done, the pump looks nothing like the one that comes out. Just frustrating. Great way to spend new year's day >.<

I ordered a holley one from auto zone... 155lph for $89.99 and it includes a strainer. their generic replacement was $95 and i'd have to pay $20 for a strainer. i'll wait to see if the guy i bought the svt pump from will let me return it. if he won't, i'll try what that link says and return the pump to autozone...
