Pulley Question

Im trying to install underdrive pulleys on my car. I put on the alternator and the water pump pulleys but I cant get the bolt off of the crankshaft pully. When I try to take off the bolt it just spins the pulley and the bolt dosent come off. My car is an automatic and I had it in gear when I did this. Any sugestions on how to get it off?

Impact should have worked. Go and get a Harmonic Balancer Removal tool. It should work for ya.

I had to use a swivel to get the socket on there and dont know if that had to do with why it didnt come off.

try using a old style chain type oil filter removal tool. you can wrap it around the pulley while u try to get the nut off. also, spray the nut with liquid wrench

i just did this the easy way to do it is have someone stick a screwdriver where it will hold it from turning and you get under the car with a 18mm(?) and pull like hell! it took me more time to get that off than the rest of the mod. make sure u have the 3 prong harmonic dampener puller to get the pully off cant do with out it
