Few Questions?

1.What is the best radar detector for around $200?

2.What kind af gas mileage should I be getting? I have an O/R H pipe with Flowmasters and K&N Intake. Im getting about 16.5 which seems kinda low. I dont really drive it that hard.

You should be glad with 16.5. I get about 12 in the city on average. Time for some new spark plugs maybe.

I get 13 in the city probably if I'm lucky. It really doesn't matter if I beat on it or not, I get horrible gas mileage in the Cobra, and I've replaced damn near everything in the car that could affect it. I just got an SCT tune with my Livewire, so maybe that'll help me out.

However, I get (with all my modifications and 4.10s, etc) damn good highway mileage, at least I personally think so. The city annihilates me, it's part of owning a Mustang. I'm using to dishing out nearly $50 a fill-up. Damn premium.

haha maybe it has to do with me putting low grade gas in it. ill try higher octane and see if that boosts it a little.

I was wondering if anyone was gonna answer the detector question. I'm found of valentine 1's but out of your price range. Still, its the only one I'd trust

If you are looking at $200 and under radar detectors, I'd personally just pick up a Cobra at Best Buy or score one off eBay for even cheaper. You could get a pretty nice one for $100. I'm a pretty firm believer that anything inbetween isn't worth it. Go for the best one, or just grab a small one and wait 'til you can do better.

I'll back him on that with my own personal use of one.

I think from what people say, if you are doing a radar detector really you should be looking at Valentine One. However, the price on those is extremely high. I'd love one, but for what I do, my Cobra Detector is fine. Just don't ignore it, but it's always given me more than fair warning. Sure, it picks up sliding doors and other useless stuff, but you'll learn real fast in your area what it is picking up that isn't a cop. For example, usually it's around doors and stuff, and hell, no cop is radaring the Walgreens parking lot.

On laser, pretty much you're cooked detector or not. I speed when I feel safe, not when the detector tells me it's safe.

A radar detector isn't necessarily there to detect cops for you. The best ticket-prevention is your own awareness and common sense. The detector is just there to give you a little more warning.

Premium isn't going to do anything to your GT, I think it's been debated here forever. Just run standard octane and do a tune-up. If you get the car tuned to premium, then run it. Otherwise, save your pennies and pour it into other "gas saving" modifications, such as 4.10s, superchargers, and intakes.
