Why not just sell the GT and find a Cobra around $7,000? Unless you just did some kind of crazy restoration or new paint job on your GT, there's no reason to spend all that money on your car doing a motor swap. I don't know your car, but from what the modifications say, you are better off dumping your car and picking up a Cobra somewhere. It's just not worth the hassle in my opinion, especially when you have $7,000 and don't exactly know how much work would be involved in the swap. From what I read, it isn't that rough, but I definitely wouldn't want to tackle it when I've decided I had $7,000 to do a swap.

Also, this is different if you wanted an 03/04 Terminator motor in your GT. If you are just looking to get a 96-98 Cobra motor though, just spend the money on a car. Look in private party sales, you could probably find a 96-97 Cobra in good shape with less miles than your GT if you search around long enough. I usually see a few good deals (I still look in auto traders and online) on people who seemingly just want to dump their Cobra because they are bored of it.

Awesome for your parents if they have the cash, but an 04 terminator motor, Kenne Bell swap, and everything else needed would run you probably twice over $7,000.

Also, it just takes looking around. I wanted only a white Cobra with tan interior in good shape. I found it with modifications done and fully loaded with the Mach 460. Just serach around, but since it's your parents money and not yours, I'm pretty sure you won't be doing any of that anytime soon. Enjoy the GT for what it's worth and upgrade later in life.
