+1 How much boost you gonna run? a stock knife edged crank will get you into the 500hp or more range and maybe more with a main support and ARP main bolts.

well i thought our crank was decent but it's our rods that are the weakest point. what if you just forge the rods? would the bottom end withstand more HP or will the vibrations caused by 500+ HP kill the crank?

The rods are the weak link for sure, I wouldn't even be worried about the crank if you are gonna run stock rods. But be forwarned if you push too hard and the rods go, it won't be pretty, I would say get good I-beams or H-beams, forged pistons and then get the crank knife edged and balance the whole thing

The rods and pistons are the weak link. Hypereutectoid. They are decent but not that strong. You should be good to 450-500hp with the stock stuff, but in the 500 range, you have to be tuned and set up really well, can't go cheap. The crank it self is good to 600 650 depending on which company you talk to. I'd say 600 is the number I would go by. Any more power than that and the 03/04 cobra crank is the way to go. If I were tearing it apart, id do it all anyway. But if you really want to save the green, just do the roads and pistons.

the stock crank will hold up to about 600- 650hp. but, if you're going to go through all the trouble of rebuilding the bottom end, you may as well forge the crank and not have to worry about it later. when the car's making 600hp, you won't have that nagging feeling like the crank's gonna let go any day...
get a forged Cobra crank, you'll sleep better at night...
