tubing size for exhaust

i was wondering what is the tubing size for a stock 98 mustang gt. I was talking to a guy from the muffler shop and he told me it was not necessary to get maganaflow cats, cause the tubing size was the same. He said all i needed to do is change the actual muffler. not sure if that makes sense. but thats what he said. help fellas!!!! thks!!!

so is there really a big difference with the magna cats 2.5 in tubing?

There is a differance in the flow. it is bigger but it is also bent differently and the bends are measured and designed for the best flow. A whoel cat back is better, but you won't notice unless you got a decent bit of mods on the engine.
